About Us
This Mostar hotel and tour booking site is owned and operated by Mili Bijavica of Fortuna Tours Mostar. Our philosophy is to connect cultural, historical and adventure travel newcomers and veterans with service providers, adventure activities and accommodation requirements for both new and seasonal travellers to meet their needs and budget requirements.
Fortuna Trade Travel Tours started operating in the early 1990's. The recent war in Bosnia and Herzegovina forced the business to close from 1993 until 1997. In 1997, the business was re-established. With my expertise and knowledge in the field of tourism, my idea was to work together with small group of young enthusiasts, to develop our business under unbelievable conditions (i.e. with unfavourable loans, and without government assistance).
In the 11 years since we reopened, we have established three agencies in Mostar, employing 15 full time and over 50 seasonal staff. Fortuna Tours is a member of professional and international bodies IATA, UTA, UHPA, RDA.
Meet the Team
Mili received a scholarship awarded in 1989 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Italy in conjunction with the WTO, and specialised in the field of tourism marketing. He considers development of local tourism for Mostar to be his passion, taking pride in the cultural diversity and tourist attractions the region has to offer.
"As an 18 year old boy I began to explore touristic beauties and cultural attractions of our land. In the years of my economic studies, I was working as a guide. After finishing my studies, I found a job in the tourist agency APRO Tourism Herzegovina, where I worked as a chief of branch office. In 1982, I opened first agency in Medjugorje.
With an expert knowledge of Mostar, I am most passionate about developing tourism in this region, with an interest in sport as well as learning about different cultures. I am very proud of the cultural diversity of our land; as well as tourist attractions such as Old Bridge in Mostar, the panorama of the cities, plus the mix of cultures and traditional food. Apart from travel we are also very interested in sport, culture, exhibitions, visiting museums, wine tours etc.
Sustainable Tourism
We devote a lot of attention to visiting fairs and conferences all over Europe where we present the tourist offerings of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We pride ourselves on promoting what the region has to offer its holidaymakers, as we firmly believe that the wonders that Bosnia and Herzegovina has to offer is an experience which should not be missed.
In keeping with this, we educate young people of the region on how they can work as licensed guides, as well as how to present to other people the experiences that can be had in Mostar, and Bosnia and Herzegovina in general.
We regularly attend seminars closely relating to our industry, and our marketing team are constantly working on different programs on a month by month basis. Some of our recent programs have included: "Grand Tour of Bosnia and Herzegovina", "Adventure Experience Starts Here", "Treasures of Bosnia and Herzegovina", "Travel through Cultural Heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina" and "With Wine through Time".
We have spent a great deal of time to help in the education of young local people, so they can have a sustainable future as guides presenting unique tours of our country as only a local can.
Our main goal is to represent our country in a touristy sense as a member of Euro Mediterranean Adriatic Region together with Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Italy and Albania, and help to promote the wonderful scenery and culture that Mostar has to offer every tourist.
